20th Sunday Ordinary Time Yr. A - August 17, 2008

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Well I’m home after a very enjoyable time in New Zealand and Central Australia with Fr. Rolo, who returned on August 5th.  The last week I spent very quietly on the Central Coast.  I thank Fr. Glen and all the staff for taking care of the parish  in my absence.

Next Sunday we have First Communion at the 9.30 am Mass and another Mass at 12 noon.  I would ask that parishioners try to go to another Mass rather than the 9.30 am so that the families of the children may be able to be comfortably accommodated.  Thank you in advance for this.

I have been asked by Cardinal Pell to assist Cronulla Parish during the next six months as they have been left without an assistant priest.  So we will have to make some adjustments so we can help cover some of their Masses.  I will keep you informed.

The World Youth Day was a great success and this Saturday night we are celebrating a special Mass to consider where we go from here.   There is  no doubt that the whole event had a great impression on a lot of people.  It is a golden opportunity to develop a deeper appreciation of our faith and help others to do the same.  It was interesting while on holidays to see that everywhere I went I saw the World Youth Day bag at airports, railway stations and in various places such as Uluru.  If we can help the younger members of our community to grow in their faith it will be a great achievement.  Once again I thank all who helped to make the World Youth Day pilgrims so welcome in our parish.

Here is an Irish Wish.

God be good to you in all your days, God be kind to you in all  your ways.

God give strength to you when crosses lean, God send light to you, the clouds between. God give peace to you in times of strife, God  bless everything that fills your life.

God send joy to you when grief  is o’er, God make way for you at Heaven’s door. (Brian O’Higgins)

In Christ,                                                                                  Kerry.

Spiritual Direction

This August...practice ‘active’ listening...be the change you wish to see in others...be-friend someone...simplify something in your life...love every bit of yourself...laugh a few times today...listen for unseen life...trust that your life is unfolding as it should...see heaven in a wild flower!

Spiritual Direction invites one to growth in self-knowledge and a deeper appreciation of your own unique and sacred life story.

Interested in Spiritual Direction on a regular basis?   Contact  Sr. Gisella  at the Parish Office.
